English artist and sculptor, Chris Stone, has just been elected into the 2013 top 100 International Biographical Centre’s prestigious group of famous artists, authors and scientists. He has developed a reputation for creating a multitude of imaginative works, including urban art canvases; Macael marble sculpture pieces; Travertine stone sculptured torsos; abstract and caricatured art, delivering tongue-in cheek political and social comment and humour.

DIRECT CARVING SCULPTURES: a 20th Century term used to describe a ‘less planned’ approach to carving in which the sculptor carves the finished sculpture without using intermediate models [ormaquettes]. In essence, this is Chris’s magical way of working to create magnificent sculpture works giving pleasure to art lovers and admirers worldwide.
Working from memory, or working directly while observing the subject matter in question, is a passion and technique in which Chris excels. It is an exemplary gift and his sculture studies are unquestionably unforgettable.
Chris has made prolonged visits to Aswan, Luxor and Cairo to study Egyptology. His sculpture works have also been influenced by his visits to the Czech Republic to study Eastern European Art.
He collaborated as “Artist Designer’ at the ‘World Trade Fair’ [Expo ’92 in Seville, Spain, working in both the English and Spanish pavilions].
Upon arrival in Ibiza, Chris met and collaborated with Welsh sculptor, Barry Flanagan, who mentored our mature artist until Flanagan’s death in 2009.
Recently the International sculptor, had two of his beautiful DIRECT CARVED sculptures designed and built into this stunningly beautiful South African residence, where beauty, aesthetics, art, sculpture and cultural taste are paramount.
